Talent like this is why I love what I do and makes it all worthwhile. Completely unsuspecting, South Carolina born Noah is only 18 yet his voice is mature. One of the most powerful I’ve heard in a long time it has a raspy blues feel to it with a slight country twang. He COMPLETELY reworks LMFAO’s “Sexy And I Know It” and takes it from an unbearable Vegas headache inducing track (sorry LMFAO) to something I’ve had on repeat yet still can’t get enough of. This guy is going to be huge…mark my words. Really looking forward to what else he will do…in the meantime the video is on the right. After eleasing “G Sharp” a little while back King Fantastic drop their brand new EP, “SocioPoliticalPimpTalk.” As with “G Sharp: the rest of the EP has a similar sound, simple beats with the rhymes carrying the tune. On their track “Jamaica, California” they demonstrate an eerie sound similar to something OFWGKTA would do and then drop a section clearly an homage to the Ying Yang Twins “The Whisper Song” whilst “Coastal Shindig” is definitely the most catchy song on the EP. Somehow this is the first I’m hearing of native Colorado prodigy Zach Heckendorf. The ridiculously talented singer reworks rap classics like Dre’s “Forgot About Dre” into acoustic hits taking his cues from rappers such as Aesop Rock (also one of my personal fave’s). He really goes in at 2:52 with his impressive spitfire…is it just me or does it sound like Ed Sheeran and Cris Cab had a baby? Really looking forward to hearing what else this guy has in store for us in the near future…

Guy Harrison is definitely one of my picks for up and comers to watch. At 18 he is a freshman at Syracuse and working on his fourth mixtape: Backhand Fam Vol. 2. Low Key (prod. by mattMiGGZ) features both him and his roommate Cartier Sims and is expected to be on Backhand Fam Vol. 2.

Upon the release of Electric Daisy Carnival NYC’s Phase I lineup (included above), I became very skeptical of the festival’s grandeur. Despite the range of talent, the mysterious presentation and overall uncertainty surrounding not only the festival’s lineup but also the event as a whole, raised my suspicions. However, on the eve of Insomniac Event’s announcement of adding a third day to the festival, Armin van Buuren was officially initiated into the festival’s lineup, thereby expunging all uncertainty I had pertaining to the festival’s haphazard organization I had witnessed thus far, as you can be sure that many of AvB’s “A State of Trance” entourage are not far behind.

To celebrate the good news (with more to come), I have included some of Armin’s most recent productions and remixes in a mini play-list below. Although each track deserves its own feature, it would be next to impossible to run a series of consecutive posts on such masterfully engineered productions.
