When Gabriel & Dresden first separated, who knew the future? What were the chances that they would get back together? The EDM scene dimmed slightly as David Dresden and Josh Gabriel each went their separate ways, developing their tracks on their own. Luckily they realized that a lot of their energy came from working on their tracks together, which led to their great success in the early 2000′s. On New Years Eve 2011 they reunited in LA for the first time and old fans and new ones alike rejoiced for the scene. Gabriel & Dresden were back in action bringing back songs “that you love to feel bad about” but with a new rigor and energy. They’re coming to Bleu Detroit in the Motor City to show us time hasn’t stopped them.

I recently saw their performance at Electric Zoo and was completely mesmerized by the fact that my childhood DJs were playing in front of me! Although they did play their classic vocal trance tracks, they incorporated festival energy and played harder basslines and remixes on quite a few crowd popular tracks. While an excellent and well rounded set, I cannot help but want to see them in a smaller venue where they have more “room” to drop personal favorites and a trance-ier setlist as opposed to moving a crowd that is over 3,000 strong.  If you’re in the area there is no reason for you to miss out on this event.  It’s a Friday, what else do you have better to do than trance out?
