Preview: Pacha NYC presents Chris Liebing
If you haven’t seen this legend live, then do yourself a favor and go to Pacha on February 4th. I had the pleasure of enjoying his unbelievable set on December 16th at Highline Ballroom. It was the best early Christmas present I’ve ever received. Liebing was moving with his characteristic Germanic smile and showed us that when you pushed something, it did something. Something bombastic, garish and utterly entrancing. Highline was hypnotized with tight techno, and Liebing worked the system, the space and the crowd with phenomenal energy. OKTAform contributed flashy displays that truly complimented Liebing’s drops & classic looping builds to thumping bass crashes.
OKTAform will not be at Pacha so don’t expect any light shows on the 4th. What you will get it simple: pure, unadulterated, heads-down techno. Anyone can put together a pounding mix, but I assure you that few do it like my man Liebing. If his music doesn’t take you out of yourself just to throw you back into reality and wonder where the hell you’ve been for the past 30 minutes, well, then you clearly don’t know good techno when you hear it.
