I first heard Calvin Harris‘ throwback banger Acceptable in the 80s during the infancy of my relationship with house music (shit, I still didn’t understand the difference between techno and house). I liked it at the time, but didn’t really revisit the Scottish DJ’s catalog until I heard I’m Not Alone (which is, by the way, the best New Year song since Will2K, hands down), at which point I fell completely in love.
Calvin Harris (@calvinharris) speaks to me in a way no DJ ever has – the dude has mad style, both on and off the turntables. His beats are always funky and super fresh, and, judging by the fact that he made his first album in his bedroom on a couple cheap 80s synths, he’s in the game to have some fun. I know it’s old news by now, but take some time to revisit these tracks, and remember why you fucking love house:
