Welcome AUDIEN – America’s own trance producer and he’s straight killing it.
So we all know that the trance scene has been quite slow in America, but killing it for years across the ocean and pretty much across the world…I mean there is a reason that seven of the top ten DJs according to djmag.com are all serious trance producers. So isn’t it time to bring it home here?
I am exceptionally pleased to bring to you one of the few American trance DJs out there – Nate Audien Rathbun. His dj name is “Audien” and he is fresh talent recognized by major international DJs. Straight out of the tri-state metropolitan area (Connecticut – waddup) Audien is as I like to say #owning. This kid is younger than me and already has tracks up on Beatport, creating remixes of big names in the trance world and collaborating with other international djs to spit out fire sounds.
I personally heard of Audien when I tuned into Ferry Corsten‘s Weekly countdown. Now Ferry is one of my favorite DJs of all time with tracks like Made of Love, Festival, and Beautiful – but when he dropped Audien’s track and gave him a shout out as an upcoming and rising DJ I hit the books…or rather the internet. The words “holy shit, he’s good” were pretty much running through my mind. I mean let’s be real, your tracks have to be good if Ferry is giving you a personal shoutout. Ferry has dropped four of Audien’s tracks in five podcasts (check out Ferry’s Countdowns #166, #167, #180, #183, and #185). Pure talent. Armin van Buuren‘s State of Trance #475 dropped his track “Palmetto,” while Trance Around The World and Club Life showed him some love as well. Seriously, it doesn’t get more legit than this.
His tracks fall under progressive trance and he does a lot of vocal trance which is a personal favorite of mine. Smooth easy beats have him soaring through the charts. His recent collaboration with Jason van Wyk from South Africa called “Someday” is climbing up Beatport’s Top 100 downloads charts. I’m scrolling through Beatport as I write and there are 85 tracks listed under his name, both original productions and other DJs remixes of his stuff. All I can say is I’m floored with his success.
I had a little chat with Audien himself and he told me that he just finished up a remix for Aly & Fila (great trance artist, highly recommend) along with a remix coming for Ad Brown on Silk. Not only that he has tracks that will be coming out on Nervous Records and on Enhanced Records. Also look out for Norin & Rad vs. Audien – ID (Original Mix) track coming out soon as well.
He also told me that he’s open for bookings this summer – concert producers get on this!!! I would love to see him play live – great night guaranteed.
Now see what all my hype is all about:
Jason Van Wyk Audien – Someday (Original Mix)
Okay they just put this out and I’m a fiend for vocal trance so this just went and hit me in my weak spot. Pop an ambien and float away. Far, far away.
Audien-Mind Over Matter (originalmix)
Older song featured in the Countdowns - so first half of the track you’re chillin in some nice trance and then the second half BAM! the progressive drops and you’re lovin life. When I showed my friend this track, he started freaking out cause I finally ID’d it for him.
This track is fire. I love it. It’s coming out soon on First State Music, so for now enjoy the video. It has mellow tunes and a beat that makes me groove on top of my soft sheets. Don’t you want to join?
Seriously, grab a body, get a room, and drop these tunes. It’s a whole new world of fun, trust me. (Make sure your bass is bumpin first.)
Ferry Corsten – Punk (Audien Remix)
I have to put this remix in. Audien remixes Ferry’s killer track “Punk.” AUDIEN’S FUCKING KILLLLING IT. DO I HEAR SOME WOBBLES?!?!??! Do I hear some grooving? Yes, yes, yes. This is definitely something new, and honestly I want to see what more he can do in this direction. The dirty womps and the electro notes – I see a future in more genres than just progressive trance. He told me he likes to experiment in new areas and not just keep producing the same thing. Seriously. This kid has so much talent I don’t know what to do with myself.
Audien – Fall Into Place (Original Mix)
Audien – eleven eleven (original mix)
Audien – Palmetto (original mix)
Audien & DeColita – Behind our thoughts
Perhaps my only critique is he needs to put some more of his dope tracks on soundcloud. My fave track on there is Missing you, very solid job but I want to see more on there. It’s hard to even find something bad to say…I’m a trance fan since I was 12 and Audien leaves me speechless. America needs more trance DJs and he is answering that great call.
After the success of the ASOT 500 tent at ultra, and Audien who we are proud to call our own – isn’t it time for you to sit back, relax, and play up some trance?
