Looking to prepare yourself for Electric Zoo and familiarize yourself with the performers? Electric Zoo is an annual mega that’s held on Labor Day Weekend (September 2-4) at Randall’s Island Park in New York City. It has received a respectable nomination for “Best Music Event” and “Best US Festival” from URB magazine. Unlike last year, 2011′s jungle will be three days long rather than two. With an amazing array of EDM subgenres and a consistent line of talent, this is one electronic music festival you won’t want to miss.

We will continue to cast a spotlight on some of our favorite producers that you may or may not be acquainted with. Today I’m going to shed light on Dutch producer/DJ HARDWELL. Starting to DJ at the tender age of 13, and now killing it at 23, the young Dutch star has already made a name for himself with his own record label called Revealed Recordings and radioshow Hardwell On Air. It all started with his “Show Me Love vs Be” bootleg and continued to grow with another smashing bootleg “Show One Love”. From then on there was no looking back as he never failed to deliver fuego in the form of colossal original mixes (Move It To The Drum, Molotov, Asteroid, Encoded, The World) and creative remixing. His collaboration with Tiesto on “Zero 76″, of which went #1 on Beatport and has been a hard-hitting anthem for some time now. His filthy video teaser to “Encoded“, which happens to be my favorite track, had over 500,000 views on YouTube.

His identity in progressive house can be collectively described as a”Big Room sound” , of which punishes the dancefloor with punchy progressions and an agressive bombardment of charged drops and arena-style synths.  In my opinion, Hardwell has been thee best producer in progressive house of 2011 with his exceptional technical skills, variety of music (see remixes below) and that added personal touch make him stand out — and he’s ready to bring this to the masses. I know it’s quite the bold statement, but I stand behind it with my evidence below. His situation at Electric Zoo is considered a worst case scenario for many because of the complete overlap with Calvin Harris on Sunday. Calvin Harris performs on the Main Stage from 3:45-5:00 and Hardwell performs on Red Bull Riverside from 3:30-4:45 (see set times here).
