Jazz Cartier- Losing Elizabeth (Must Listen Free Album)
Sitting in my room, listening to this album over and over again, wondering how the Toronto native and Bridgton Academy (yes, that is a high school) student, Jazz Cartier, has somehow cut open my heart and soul, taken my thoughts and feelings, and used them for inspiration in his latest work. Never before have I felt so connected to an artist and what he’s rapping about, being the loss of his first love, Elizabeth (get it now?), through the ever-constant medium of good music.
Seductive pianos, masterful production courtesy of Lantz, some autotune (nicely done), and heartfelt lyrics is what makes this project stand out to me. Even the tracks calling out other artists and discussing weed and such bear great meaning, because it all ends up with Elizabeth. Heartbreak happens, and it’s happened to all of us, and Jazz does such a brilliant job drawing out the emotions from his lost love, and making it into music. That, is bravery.
I have had the utmost pleasure of talking to Jazz about life, happiness, women, and all of the finer things in life, and I am confident that with the 14+ months of work that went into this project, all of his future projects will be just as great. I hope you find a way to connect to this as much as I have.
