With a few notable album releases by Kid Cudi, Kanye West, and Theophilus London’s second single “Flying Overeas” hip-hop is beginning to warm back up!

Kid Cudi – Man On the Moon, Vol. II: The Legend of Mr. Rager – Though Cudi’s second album more or less defined the sophomore slump he essentially has an established fan-base to support him. I respect that he’s doing what he wants to do, which is supposed to be what? Mumbling behind dreary solo dolo-esque beats one track after another? Eh, not too sure how I feel about that, hes just not playing to his full potential (like Carmelo). So after I’ve critisized the album a bit, save some time (and perhaps some money) and download these. If your all about following storylines on albums then I’d say go for it.

Scott Mescudi vs. the World (feat. Cee-Lo) –>very creative, probably the best track
The Mood –>why can’t he be hungry like this in all of his songs?
Maniac (feat. Cage & St. Vincent) –>dope production
The End (feat. GLC, Chip Tha Ripper & Nicole Wray) –>old-school beat
Mojo So Dope

Kanye West – My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy – This album might have to grow on you like 808s. Once it does you’ll see why Kanye is the best producer, which has helped him get to where hes at today. I’d recommend copping the album and checking out his 35 minute Runaway video. The production is rich and very creative, with plenty of collabs. Here’s some nasty songs from the album to check out.

Devil In A New Dress (feat. Rick Ross) –>I’m thinking college dropout?
All Of The Lights (feat. Rihanna & Kid Cudi?) –>one of my favorites
Dark Fantasy
Hell of a Life –>iron man goes hip-hop
So Appalled (feat. Jay-Z, Pusha T, Prynce Cy Hi, Swizz Beatz & RZA) –>all sick verses
Gorgeous (feat. Kid Cudi & Raekwon)
Blame Game feat. John Legend –> you HAVE to stick around to listen to Chris Rock’s hysterical “Yeezy taught me” skit at the end of the song

Theophilus London – One of the most talented artist emcees right now, incredibly entertaining to see live and definitely understands/appreciates good music. Check out his Marvin Gaye inspired mixtape “I Want You”.
Here is his recently released second album single for his upcoming debut (TBA).

Theophilus London – Flying Overseas (featuring Devonté Hynes & Solange Knowles) –>sounds like the Shins doesn’t it?
Theophilus London & Maximum Balloon – Groove Me
Theophilus London – Fatal Attracton –>very impressed with the Dennis Ferrer “Hey Hey” sample
